FAQ: What to Expect at the 4th Annual Art of the Piedmont

If you haven’t been to Art of the Piedmont before, you’re in for a delightful treat. You’ll see some of the region’s finest artwork and if you see something that suits your fancy, you’ll also have the opportunity to make it yours.

If you want to know more about what you can expect this year, here are the answers to some of the most common questions we’re asked:

What should I wear to Art of the Piedmont?

Wear what you feel comfortable in. Our guests wear everything from jeans to cocktail dresses. Whatever you wear, you’ll fit in.

How do I bid on the art?

When you enter, you’ll receive a bid number. If you see some artwork you’d like to bid on, one of our volunteers will provide you with a slip of paper on which to write your bid number, the name of the artwork you’d like to bid on and the amount of your bid. How will I know if I’m the highest bidder?

This year, we will be conducting a blind auction, meaning we will not be revealing the amount of the winning bid until the auction has ended. We will have a list of all the artwork for sale along with the number of the winning bidder on display throughout the auction. If you see your number listed, you’ll know you’re the highest bidder. If not and there’s still time left to bid, you’ll need to bid higher in order to win.

When does the bidding end?

We have a firm deadline of 8:30 p.m. for the bidding this year. We will provide you with a 2-minute warning before bidding ends and make an announcement once the bidding is over.

How much does the art sell for?

In the past, some of the artwork has sold for hundreds of dollars, while others have sold for thousands. Of course, since this is an auction, the price of any item will be determined by the highest bidder.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, personal checks, Visa and Mastercard.

If I win, how do I get my art?

Winning bidders must provide their bid numbers and a receipt for payment to collect their artwork. All artwork must be collected the night of the auction.

What if I don’t win anything, but I still want to help Middleburg Montessori School?

We will be accepting donations for Middleburg Montessori School the night of the auction as well. Keep your eye out for our collection box. We accept cash and personal checks. Please make checks out to “Friends of Middleburg Montessori School.”

How do I RSVP?

There’s no need to RSVP for Art of the Piedmont.
